  4. Who can take IELI classes and UNT part-time? IELI Level 6 students are eligible to take UNT part-time if: • they have been officially admitted to UNT • they have received a UNT admission letter • they are undergraduate students or second bachelor’s students • they are not repeating Level 6 for the third time (R2)

  5. Can I take UNT classes while I am studying at the IELI? Part-time IELI Part -time UNT Admitted to UNT Undergraduate If you are admitted to UNT and you are an undergraduate LEVEL 6 student, you must be enrolled in UNT classes.

  11. Full Time Status Required No IELI student will be permitted to be “less than fulltime” except for a medical reason (or other emergency) that is approved in advance by the International Advising Office.

  12. Level 6/6 Students Completion of IELI meets the English Language Proficiency requirement to enter UNT. Students who graduate from IELI can enter UNT • if they have applied and been officially admitted to UNT • if they have received a UNT admission letter

  15. Texas Success Initiative (TSI) All undergraduate students in the state of Texas must take the TSI test before the beginning of classes. • Accuplacer • Compass • THEA • ASSET All tests are offered at UNT, require a fee, and can be taken multiple times. For more information go to my.unt.edu

  16. Math Placement Testing All undergraduate students must take the math placement test. • The math placement test is given daily in the GAB building. • Contact the Math Department for dates and times.

  17. Registration Week: Orientation • Attend two orientations • International Student Orientation & Document Check-in (Free) • UNT New Student Orientation (registration and fee required)

  26. Failing a Level 6 class while taking UNT courses Students who fail a Level 6 class for the first time and who are repeating the Level 6 class (R1) can register for UNT classes. Ex: 6 WR (R1) 6 WR 6 CM (R1) 6 CM UNT UNT Failed SPRING I SPRING II FALL II

  27. Failing a Level 6 class twice Failing a Level 6 class TWICE nullifies the privilege of registering for UNT classes. The student cannot register for UNT classes during the third repetition of the IELI level 6 class. 6 WR (R1) 6 WR (R2) Repeat Failed SPRING I FALL II

  28. Failing a Level 6 class Students who fail a Level 6 class for the MUST REPEAT that class immediately in the next term of IELI. Failed classes may not be postponed until a later term or semester. 5 CM 6 WR (R1) & UNT 6 WR FALL II SPRING I

Failing a Level 6 class while taking UNT courses Failing a Level 6 class TWICE while taking UNT classes nullifies the privilege of continuing UNT classes. • The student cannot attend UNT classes during the third repetition (R2) of the IELI Level 6 class. • The student must drop all UNT classes. • No refund will be given for UNT classes. • The student will be assigned a mandatory IELI supplemental class.
