  1. LES (London Electricity Services) is large Electricity utility provider, operating in SE England. Providing power to large numbers of Industrial users. Pilot scheme was conceived, to test remote Monitoring & Control using Internet Based technology, in advance of its potential use for large projects. Two sub-stations (11kv) were selected that supply the Eurostar maintenance depot. (To be implemented in two phases). LES North Pole Project

LES North Pole Project • Phase 1 (Scrubs Lane) monitoring of existing breakers, plus monitoring & control of a dummy breaker, security to monitor sub station access via door alarm & Web camera. • Products utilised were 2 * Premium PLC’s and TSXETY510 Web server Modules + Web Cam, Ethernet Modem/Router & Switch.

  3. Phase 2-: Implementation of full breaker control (Including repair shed), SMS text messages, connection to LES intranet. Business advantages for LES -: Remote diagnosis & control helping to reduce the amount of time spent on-site & travelling. Reduced system costs, as it is based around standard Hardware & Software using internet browser technology. Low cost graphics development using “MS Front Page”. Additional security benefits of a Web camera view of the sub-station along with unauthorised access alert. (Silent Alarms). LES North Pole Project
