  1. HR Data Requirements for IR Reporting Emory University Prepared by the Office of Institutional Research at Emory University – March 2009

  2. Outline • Internal versus External Reports • HR Data Types • Short Term Goals • Long Term Goals • Q&A

  3. Constituents • Internal vs. External • Internal • President, Provost, Deans • BOTs • 2008-09 Diversity Report * • External • AAUP • AAUDE • IPEDS • Affirmative Action Plan

  4. HR Data Types • Faculty Data elements • “Title”, i.e. Assistant Professor to Associate Professor • Contract Length i.e. 9 months, 12 months, less than 12 months • “Tenure Track” i.e. Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor • “Tenure Date” i.e. date of receiving tenure and should be blank for non-Tenured track faculty • “Tenure Status” i.e. from No or Yes or vice versa

  5. HR Data Type Mismatches • Consider records where Faculty Rank <> Faculty Title. For example, John Doe, Emplid 0000001 Faculty Title – “Senior Research Associate” and Faculty Rank – “Professor.” • Consider records where Faculty Rank = “Assistant Professor” and Tenure Date <> blank. • Consider Faculty Rank = “Associate Professor” or “Professor” where Tenure Date = blank. • Consider records where the Title is “Professor” and the Track is “Tenure” and the Tenure Status is “NO”.

  6. Short Term Goals • Key Dates • Annual HR Date of Record: Middle of October each year • Reporting to IPEDS: Mid-November of each year • Short Term Goals • Data sent to schools for correction – End of September each year • Schools send corrected reports to IR to generate “Internal” and “External” reports • Schools send corrected reports to HR Data Services to make system updates
