Kindergarten • All incoming Kindergarteners will be assessed within the first weeks of school. These assessments focus on academic skills (letters/sounds, number sense, etc).
The first two weeks of Kindergarten are planned/paced by the Kinder team of teachers. This allows for change if needed. • Preppie Kindergarten assessments took place in the summer for families interested in this potential educational option.
Preppie Kindergarten • Testing: Age 5 from July 1 to December 2 or by parent request; Qualify age appropriate based on Gesell Readiness Test (kindergarten developmental screening)
Preppie K • Opportunity to participate in a wide variety of interactive learning experiences to assist in the development of positive social/emotional skills • Parent request for this program is required
Preppie K • Focuses on PRE-READING that emphasizes: oral language development, phonological and phonemic awareness, vocabulary skill building, beginning phonics development and beginning writing practice
Transitional Kinder • September 2 – December 2
Academics • Full Day Kindergarten • Dual Language Immersion/Language Enrichment • Fallbrook Community Center (ASES) • All subject areas are taught • Academically rich environment
College Readiness • All of our students can/will go to college . • We are teaching to prepare your students for the future. • Each class will adopt a 4 year university that your child will be introduced to.
Technology is a part of the future… • All classrooms have 8 student computers and one teacher technology work station. • All students have access to a variety of computer programs. • Lessons on use of the computer as a learning tool or resource are given.

Kindergarten Schedule • 7:30 drop off on the primary playground (except for first 3 days) • 8:00 Bell -teachers pick up • 8:05 Instruction begins • 9:35 – 9:55 Recess • 11:35- 12:20 Lunch • 2:15 Release
Snack/Lunch • Please send a small nutritious snack labeled with your child’s name. • If your child purchases lunch we recommend you pay in advance on-line or drop a check in the office.
First Day of School • Please take your child to the quad. • Please have a transportation plan to share with the teacher at their table. • If you are not able to accompany your child, please call the office or send a note with your child. • Your child will not be released to anyone not listed/noted.
Transportation Buses • Pick up and drop in the front of the school • No parent traffic is allowed. Calle De La Paloma is a private drive and not for public use Walking Entrances- • Heald Lane cul-da-sac (park/walk entrance*) • Mercedes Court (walking/drop only, no parking) Car Drop Off – • Heald Lane cul-da-sac • Mercedes Court Park & Walk In – • Heald Lane – park in Senior Center lot, Community Center lots, or school lot in area in front cross walk. Team Work = Working together to keep our children safe!
Visiting Our School • All visitors must sign in at the office and receive a name badge. • Classroom visit/observations should be scheduled with administration and will last no more than 20 minutes. Morning procedures for drop off • If you are waiting with your child in the quad, please exit the campus after the bell. • Parents are not allowed in the lunch pavilion or the playground.

Kinders will be escorted to designated area. • 7:35 K reports to small blacktop area
1st week exceptions… • All K students report to the quad for the first three days of school. • After that, they are to report to the kinder playground. • If you are waiting with your child in their designated morning zone, please exit the school campus at the warning bell.
Visiting our school continued… Pick Up • Students must be picked up at the quad or cul-da-sac. • If you arrive on campus prior to the dismissal bell, please check into the office. Volunteers Are Welcome & Needed • Information regarding classroom volunteering will go home the first week of school. • A PTA volunteer form will also be sent home. • All volunteers working with students must have a current TB clearance.
Attendance • Please attempt to plan all appointments and trips outside of school time. • If a student is absent, please call the attendance line (731-4222) or or send a note. Communication is key to a successful relationship!
Just In Case… Please send the following in a ziploc baggie with your child’s name on it: • An additional pair of underwear • Socks • Shorts/Pants
Toys/Electronic Devices • Electronic devices and toys are not allowed at school.

Parent Homework • 2nd day packet… Remember to please complete the emergency card with contacts. • Don’t overlook the student insurance. • Devise a transportation plan with your student. • Consider your parent involvement options.
