BACKGROUND • July 1981: Failure at Kansas City Hyatt Hotel • 1983: Building Structural Failures Conference • Nov 1984 Decision: Publish a Manual of Professional Practice for Quality in the Constructed Project.” • 1988: Preliminary Edition – 15,000 copies sold • 1990: 1st Edition published – 13,000 copies sold • 2000: 2d Edition published - 1,700 copies sold

  5. Objective • Promote means of achieving quality. • Provide a guide for owners, designers and constructors. • Cover process from inception through O&M.

  6. Quality “Quality is defined as the fullfillment of project responsibilities in the delivery of products and services in a manner that meets or exceeds the stated requirements and expectations of the owner, design professional and constructor.”
