  3. Once in a Lifetime • Use our 100th anniversary to position Girl Scouts as a • breakthrough brand. • Engage the hearts and minds of many, inspire urgent • action and deliberate investment, and ensure the long- • term sustainability of our mission.

  4. Our Cause: Girls • As Girl Scouts celebrates its centennial we will use this • unique moment in our history to declare 2012 the Year • of the Girl. • This will serve as the foundation for ToGetHerThere, • Girl Scouts’ multiyear, multipronged effort to break • down societal barriers that hinder girls from leading and • achieving success.

  5. Call Society to Action • The momentum of the Year of the Girl will fuel the launch of a landmark campaign on January 31 and February 1 that will call on all members of society—mothers, fathers, all adults, corporations, government, and nonprofits—to help girls reach their leadership potential. • Because when girls succeed, so does society. • All of us have a role in making that happen. • Together, we will get her there.

I Pledge: To do my part in supporting today's girls -- to achieve the goal of equal and balanced leadership tomorrow -- I pledge to join ToGetHerThere by being a leader who inspires girls and:• Becomes informed, learning why we need to solve this issue for girls today and how a successful female leader positively impacts the world around her • Speaks up for supportive environments in my community, such as advocating for healthy media images; helping identify effective mentors; increasing girls' involvement in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM); and joining the fight against bullying • Invests in girls to invest in our future

  20. Friday, August 17 6-9 p.m. - Opening Ceremony in the David L. Lawrence Convention Center - Saturday, August 18 9:45 a.m.-noon - Girl Scouts parade. There is a small safety of $30 per float and $3 per participant Immediately following the parade - The Grand Wyndham, where over 100 exhibitors. Or, take advantage of our Program Partners events at Girl Scout friendly places like the Heinz History Center and Point Park University. 5 p.m. - Bridging ceremony on the Roberto Clemente Bridge. Sunday, August 19 11 a.m.-1 p.m. - Forever Green Initiative in the Convention Center. 1:30-3:30 p.m. - The day will conclude with an Interfaith Celebration, also at the convention center, featuring our GSWPA Choir.

All Weekend Don’t miss an opportunity to be a part of our Time Capsule which will be open throughout the weekend at various venues to have your photo taken holding a white board with your answer to the question “What is your wish for the next 100 years of Girl Scouting?” Registration Registration and Information will be available on the website beginning in mid-February. All paid registrants will receive a fabulous Patch Bracelet unique to GSWPA. Early Bird Registration is only $5.00 per participant through May 15, 2012, The price increases to $10 per participant after May 15, so register early! Housing We have housing blocks at the Omni William Penn and Grand Wyndham. Slumber parties will be available for troops at Heinz History Center, Children’s Museum, and Carnegie Science Center. Camps Timberlake, Redwing and Yough will be open as CORE camp experiences with busing in to the city.
