WHO ARE CONSUMERS? • A consumer is a person who uses goods and services • Goods are things that you can touch, hold and sometimes need to buy • For e.g. biscuits, pencil, ruler • Services are action that a person does for someone else to satisfy what the person wants • For e.g. Paying tuition fees, for washing of cars, for gardening
FACTORS AFFECTING CONSUMERS’ DECISION • Prices of certain products • Brand names • Items on sales • The amount of money we have • Peer influence • Advertising
CONSUMER RIGHTS Your consumer rights are: • To be heard • To be informed • To choose • To redress
CONSUMER RESPONSIBILITIES • Be a responsible consumer • Always be polite • Keep your receipts • Handle goods carefully • Keep up with current prices • Check or examine product carefully • Always check your change when you pay for a product • Ask for information about care and cleaning of the product • Read and understand information • Gather information about products and prices • Ask about procedures in case, you are not satisfied with the product • Ask about guarantee • Know the shop policy, whether you will be refunded or you can exchange the goods if you are not satisfied
