  2. Key Data (1) • The building products sector in France: - 5 billions € - 7 000 manufacturers • The construction sector (including the contractors activities): - > 10% GNP - ~10% total employment

Key Data (2) • AIMCC founded in 1963 • Gather only professional organisations (no direct membership from manufacturers): - feder ations, sectoral organizations - about 100 members - all sectors, except electrical equipments and paints • One executive board: 18 members • President: Jean Paul Gelly (Saint Gobain group) • Former president: Patrick Nodé-Langlois (Lafarge group)

  4. Key Data (3) • 27 commissions and working groups • Mailing lists: > 350 persons involved in the works • but,… 1/3 really working,…. • One web site: www.aimcc.org • With a private space for a data base: • Working documents in the DB: > 1500 documents /year • Permanent staff: only 2 persons,……!

Activities • Scope covered: common/horizontal subjects: - ie the products once out from the factories - factories questions dealt directly by the members • Internal activities: - AIMCC Working Groups: 27, whose 7 permanent WG - > 70 WG meetings/year • External activities: - Representation in national bodies: > 5O bodies

  6. Priorities (1) • CPD - implementation: difficulties to be identifed and solved (ATE, VM,…) - revision - market surveillance (emerging) - durability - dangerous substances • Fire - exchanges with the national notified bodies for fire - transposition in national regulations

  7. Priorities (2) • Environment - Environmental product declarations (based on LCA) - Environmental quality for buildings (HQE) - Waste • Energy and confort - national regulations/european directive Energy efficiency - to promote the development of works on the existing buidlings: CO² diagnostics - demolition-reconstruction

  8. Priorities (3) • Acoustics - national regulation - an AIMCC data base with the acoustic reports from the labs • Insurance/liability - linked to the specific liability in the french system: 10 years responsible for some activities (contractors,…) • Electronic catalogues: to promote a common langage between distribution/industry/specifiers • Others: - code of good practice: fair competition
