Nebraska City • Population = 7,289 • Home of Arbor Day • Attractions = Arbor Day Farm, Leid Lodge, Mayhew Cabin, Lewis and Lark Center, Kimmel Orchard, Union Orchard • Brand new, fully modernized hospital opened in fall of 2014 • Primary care and specialty clinics • 5 Physicians and 4 Mid-level providers

  3. SCHEDULE • Clinic Monday through Friday 8:00-5:30 • One week with each Physician • Call one night/week • 5 pm until 8 am next morning • Stay in Hospital room • Weekends not required, but encourage one weekend/month • 5 pm Friday until 8 am Monday

  4. Highlights • Practicing history taking and physical exam skills • Deciding what labs/diagnostics to order • Documenting in EMR system • Knee and shoulder injections • Suturing • Assisting with surgeries and colonscopies • Vaginal deliveries and C-sections

  5. Overall Experience I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Nebraska City and would highly recommend the experience to fellow students. It is a wonderful city with a small town feel, however is close enough to Omaha to be a commuter site. The providers enjoy having students and are very receptive to letting you do as much as you feel comfortable with.
