EVANGELIST • The first of the Gospel written was the Gospel of Mark, • It is believed that Mark wrote this gospel AD 65 in Rome. • Mark wrote for gentiles – non Jewish people who had become Christian. • Mark presented Jesus as the teaching Messiah but also as the suffering Messiah. EVANGELIST • Written around AD 85 • Matthew wrote for Jews who had converted to Christianity • Matthew was a teacher who also worked as a Rabbi which explains his knowledge of the Jewish scriptures. • This Gospel presents Jesus as the great Teacher who teaches about God’s kingdom. EVANGELIST • Written around AD 85 • Written for gentile Christians, Luke himself was a gentile Christian • This gospel is filled with a concern for people with all kinds of needs • Says that Jesus’ message is for all people and that God accepts all. LUKE Religious Education Support - PDST
