Percy Jackson • Percy is the main character in the book, and is the demigod son of Poseidon, Greek god of the sea. • Percy is considered one of the strongest demigods, due to the fact that he's one of the three main god’s son. (Zeus, Poseidon, Hades.) • He is 16 year and isn't afraid of anyone, he will do anything to save his friends, even if it means losing his own life. • Percy has saved the world numerous times, and many other demigods look up to him.
Annabeth Chase • Annabeth is another main character, and plays a huge role in this book itself. • Annabeth is the demigod daughter of Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom. • Annabeth is Percy’s Girlfriend, and has stuck with him since they’ve met; they both have helped in saving the world. • Annabeth is a strategic genius, who is highly intelligent, and a quick thinker, is responsible for many of her, and her friends wins in battle.
Leo Valdez • Leo is a little new addition to the crew in the book, and is the demigod son of Hephaestus, the Greek god of fire and crafts and of blacksmiths. • Leo is the goofball of the group, but he's a highly important character in the book. • Leo is a master craftsman who can solve any puzzle or riddle, and actually restored a mechanical dragon that was said to never be able to work.
Plot • Annabeth and the rest of her crew are on their way to be reunited with Percy in a Roman Camp for demigods, after the goddess Hera swapped him and Jason Grace, another member of the crew, into different camps. Annabeth and her crew reach the Roman camp, both camps discuss the issue at hand. The goddess Gaea is rising again, and with her the world will come to an end.
Continued… • While both camps are discussing, a harpy recites a prophecy that foretells of 7 demigods who will go to the ancient grounds, Rome, to try and stop Gaea from rising. But during their discussion, something goes horribly wrong on the crews ship, Argo II, and causes Leo to attack the Romans; as a result, Annabeth and the others have to flee. Aside from the goddess Gaea rising, they have to worry about the roman camp, who now plans to get revenge and attack the Greek camp. During their quest, the crew find out about Annabeth’s own quest.
Setting • The story takes place in modern times, in different parts all over the United States, and then transitions in to Rome.
Analyzing • The thing I liked the most about the story, is how it’s constantly filled with suspense • The thing I disliked the most was that the book is narrated in the point of view of only 4 of the 7 demigods, I would prefer a point of view from each of them. • If I could change anything, I would make it so that there's a little more action. I enjoy the action in the book, and just wish there was more of it.
What I learned • I really enjoyed this book, and one of the things that I might have learned from it, is to always be there for your friends. Always be there for them, and do what ever you can to help them.
