  1. Southern Region Update Tech-Transfer 2003 Teams RFC Backup Team • Team disbanded with 2003 workshop. • Re-established after Katrina 2005 use of backups by LMRFC and discovery of poor performance of previous system. • Funding from Hurricane monies and the grace of SR • Same team members as before; Lawrence, Jones, Bradberry, Sneeringer • Team has largely been inactive lately. • Not exactly sure of update/test cycle frequency amongst RFCs, ABRFC updates/tests every 3 months (for scan). • Overall indication is that new machines are a significant upgrade and can handle quite a load.

  2. Southern Region Update Tech-Transfer 2003 Teams RFC Archive DB team • Team largely superseded by development and fielding of AX machines to RFCs. • To my knowledge, all former SR archive db data has been moved over to AX using scripts/help from James Paul. • No known activity from team the past 2 years, suggest we abandon this team.

  3. Southern Region Update Strategic Planning - 2006 Develop/test load sharing balance test • No activity has yet occurred on this proposal. • Most ABRFC activity in winter of 2006/2007 was spent on other goals developed from 2006 workshop. • Not 100% sure that we want to continue down this path since the “CONOPS” plan was abandoned?? Do we??

  4. Southern Region Update Strategic Planning - 2006 Investigate enhanced functionalities for RFC precipitation analysis maps • Main activity for this proposal was the setting up of the rsync server at ABRFC during winter of 2006/2007 • WGRFC had this machine, but was old, near failure, and they wanted out of the business of supporting it, plus ABRFC needed this to implement next step of goal • Next step is to retrieve hourly and six hourly files from SR RFCs to rsync server, then run code to mosaic them. • 2.5 months of flooding in ABRFC stopped this process. • Big question is web page presentation.

  5. Southern Region Update Strategic Planning - 2006 Investigate enhanced functionalities for RFC precipitation analysis maps • Ken Pavelle mentioned several options: • Wait for and/or lobby AHPS to implement on new AHPS supported page. • Provide funding to AHPS for Orion to implement. • Modify Ken’s code, make changes and implement on a non AHPS webpage, but where?? • Obtain and modify Orion’s code, and hope that they will implement the changes on the new official AHPS server. • We may be at the mercy of AHPS bureaucracy now!!!!
