CHBA-NL Advocacy • Housing affordability, the underground economy and government-imposed costs (Tax on New Housing) • Canada Post agrees to suspend community mailbox fee • Accessing Canada Job Grants for industry employers • Working with Private training college to create more localized industry training (Framing Technician Program) • Business Boot-Camp for residential construction • Partnering with the Office of Climate Change and TakeCharge NL to improve home energy efficiency • Radon and asbestos removal education • Launch of “Building YES: A NIMBY Toolkit”

Fire Regulations and Connectivity – Upstairs Downstairs • NBC 2010 – all subsidiary apts and main dwelling interconnected by electrical system, therefore, all smoke alarms must be connected • Provincial Electrical Code – cannot have connected units in one system • RESULT: CHBA-NL is collaborating with municipalities and the province to seek clarification on behalf of the industry
