Warm Up • Copy HW • Grab your white packet, skip the first two pages and rip out the next three about Alexander the Great • Leave the packet neatly on the bottom shelf • Make them pages 39,40 and 41of your notebook • Grab a Red textbook and read page 313 and complete the preview section of your new page 39

  9. Religion helped unite the empire! • Honored gods of all the lands he conquered • Visited the oracles to show respect to the gods • Promoted himself as a god

  10. Alexander showed respect to other cultures by adopting some of their customs. • Allowed Persians to continue their type of government • Used Persian greeting and even dressed like a Persian King • Encourage inter culture marriages

  11. Why did Alexander’s empire fall? • After he died in 323 B.C.E…. Settlers left his cities Cities fell into ruin His general fought for control His land was divided into 3 kingdoms Greek power faded, but their culture lived on!!!!
