  3. Government of Angola Angola underwent a transition from a one party socialist state to a nominally multi party democracy in 1992. José Eduardo dos Santos (Luanda, Angola, then a Portuguese territory,[2] August 28, 1942) is the second and current President of Angola, having served in that position since 1979. As president, José Eduardo dos Santos is also the commander in chief of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) and president of the MPLA (People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola – Labor Party), the party that supports the Angolan government
