Family/Life. • Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1894 and he lived there most of his life. • Mother: Mary Thurber • Father: Charles L. Thurber • He also has 2 brothers, Robert and William Thurber.
School (: • James went to Columbus Public School as a child. • He then went to Ohio State for 1913 till 1918. He never graduated because he was going blind due to a childhood accident. • In 1995 they posthumously gave him his degree.
Thurber's First Wife. • He was married to Althea Adams in 1922. • They had daughter, Rosmary Thurber. • They Divorced in 1935.
NEWW YORKKK ! • In 1925 Thurber moved his family to New York. • He wrote full time for New York Times till 1933 • But he remained a contributor through out his life.
Thurber’s Second Wife. • Thurber married Helen Wismer in 1935. • They were married until James Thurber died in 1961. • They had no children
His Work ! • James Thurber wrote a lot of things. He worked mostly as a cartoonist and humorist. • My Life and Hard Times and The Male Animal are some examples of Thurber’s work. • James Thurber received the Ohioana Book Award from the Martha Kinny Cooper Ohioha Library Association for The White Deer
Thurber's Death. • James Thurber died on November 2, 1961. • He had a stroke, which then led to pneumonia which resulted in his death.
