  2. “Children’s Museum”What & Why Provide exhibits and programs to stimulate informal learning experiences for children. • Can be utilized by schools, preschools, etc Hands on! Vs traditional museums that typically have a hands-off policy regarding exhibits • interactive exhibits that are designed to be manipulated by children. • Activity can be as educational as instruction, especially in early childhood. Mostly for-profits available in the vicinity Family Space & Museum hand in hand • But more public funds available • Widens target demographic of Children’s Museum • Space for HW, gatherings, etc Average time to Open = 5 yrs • Viability studies • Grant applications • Permits, legalities • Best case: opening “sample” in 6mo-1yr

  3. Mission & Vision Mission: To develop and operate an innovative children’s museum to serve the Pacifica region. VISION: A dynamic place for discovery and imagination, sparking a passion for life-long learning. The rich history and unique character of our region will define the thematic concept of the museum.

Studies Needed • Viability study – through Assn of Children’s Museums • demographics, profile, and economic stability of a community • determine whether a children's museum is economically viable. • Community Motivation/Desire/Support • public forums, input in design & elements • Children’s activities in the area • Randall, Habitot, Bay Area Discovery, Creativity Carousel, Discovery in San Jose, Exploratorium, Etc – nothing within 20-30 minutes • For profits: Pacelli’s Gym, Gymboree, Tanforan
