Ignimbrite eruptions formed over 6,800 years ago. Splendid pillars are evidence of rapid erosion. Crater Lake, Oregon
Mount St. Helens • Photo taken immediately after eruption on May 18, 1980. • Top and side of cone shaped volcano (over 400 meters) was blown off during eruption.
Breadcrust Block • Formed when lumps of viscous, gas- rich lava are ejected from a volcano. • Described as a well-baked, crusty loaf of bread.

TASK 6 • Take a hike!!!! • When you get here choose one of the volcano adventures and write a short essay, journal, or poem about your adventure.
On August 21st, 1999, three intrepid young explorers began a journey that would take them through some of Europe's wildest and remotest areas. They spent a month exploring and photographing the volcanoes, geysers and waterfalls of Iceland.
