Quick-write, 2/14/2011 • Before you begin to complete this, remember to have your Workbook open to page 24 and your Guidebook open to page 20 to get it stamped. • Quote; • “If there is one characteristic that all great champions share, it’s an enormous sense of pride .   4. Key Words for your Guidebook assignments. • Perseverance; following through with an act or action. Constant support of a belief. Never giving up. • Resourcefulness; having the ability to effectively solve problems. May also have the ability to be creative to solve problems. • Self-Motivation; the ability to motivate oneself to reach their goals.

Book Assignments • Guidebook pages 21-24 • Let’s read these and then complete them. • Workbook page 27 • These are Tickets out the Door. • HW: Create your own comic strip about using perseverance to get through a difficult situation in your life. Page 25 of the workbook will be the rough draft.

  7. Objectives, • Students Shall; • Create a 9 panel comic strip about perseverance during a difficult situation in the students’ lives. • A rough draft was assigned yesterday for homework. • Understand that your final draft must be accepted by Mr. Rosas so you can receive credit.

  8. Quick-write, 2/15/11 • What do you believe your grade should be? • On the small sheet of paper you must explain what you feel your grade should be. • Justify your answer and be honest. • Explain in details. • I need to see everyone writing for 5 minutes!

  10. Agenda, 2/16/2011 • Immediately take out Workbook page 25. • Let your instructor stamp it. • As soon as it is stamped begin to work on Final Draft of your Perseverance Comic Strip. • It’s due today. • If you want to use a larger sheet of paper, it’s first come first serve.

  11. Objectives,2/16/2011 • Students Shall; • Create a 9 panel comic strip about perseverance during a difficult situation in the students’ lives. • Understand that your final draft must be accepted by Mr. Rosas so you can receive credit. • The comic strip must be turned in by the end of class.

Quick-write, to be completed in your Notebook. • Select 2 out of 3 quotes to interpret. • Take 5 minutes to interpret them. • 3. 5 Paragraph Essay on a person you respect because they overcame obstacles to become successful. • Goal is to complete by the end of the period.

Objectives, Feb. 17, 2011 • Students Shall; • Interpret two of three quotes about perseverance and write down their interpretations in their notebooks. • Compose a essay minimum of 5 paragraphs and 1 page in length. The objective is to write about a person they respect because they have overcome obstacles.

  16. 5 Paragraph Essay. • The topic for this essay is to write about a person you respect and admire because they overcame difficult challenges. • You will use the 5 paragraph format. Your finished essay should consist of at least 5 paragraphs and be a page long. • Introduction:Thesis (the main idea) and at least three reasons to support it. • Body Paragraph One: Discuss reason number one. • Body Paragraph Two: Discuss reason number two. • Body Paragraph Three: Discuss reason number three. • Conclusion: Summarize.

Use your notebook to complete a Free-Write. • Just write about anything that is going on in your life, anything, the good, the bad, anything that is fun or stressful. • This is a good way to reduce stress. Which is something we all deal with. • 3. Next use your Notebook, for a Quick-write. Interpret a quote based on responsibility. • 4. Workbook pages 27-29. • 5. Guidebook pages 24-27. • 6. Update your Workbook, and Guidebook for Tuesday.
