Draft email to TTT Tech Transfer Team,Hi again - I cannot believe it has been nearly 6 months since our project was funded!We are hoping to assemble the TTT to review our progress and evolution of our plans for simulations and testing. I am attaching a powerpoint presentation summarizing the discussion from the last meeting and describing some progress of the project to date. We are hoping to get some substantial early input and involvement from TTT (Technology Transfer Team) and therefore, we request the honor of your presence on the afternoon of April x, or x (12 noon-5:00 pm) at a meeting in Davis. We are hoping that all the PI's, all the students, and 4 of the 6 tech transfer team members will be in attendance (three in person and one by webex).In the 2-page document titled Oct_14_Kickoff.... you will find a very brief summary of the goals, approach, team, and some candidate "research questions" that will drive the research. There is a request that each person in attendance list two research references that are "highly recommended" reading for the research team. The Kickoff document is a kind of whitepaper that will drive the research direction. A main goal of the meeting is to get Tech transfer team input and produce a revised and improved whitepaper. 2D nonlinear numerical parametric studies(This may also be what the first centrifuge test looks like.) Need to define suite of ground motions. Some may be artificial (e.g., tapered sine, wavelet), some realistic. Manny and Weian will begin parametric studies on this system. One student will focus on parametric studies of the geometry and properties of the system highlighted in sketch, and the other will focus on effect of the shape of the lower level hysteresis curve (recentering, flag, elasto-plastic, settlement?).
