  1. JGR Special IssueNPP Cal/Val Science Results • FuzhongWenghas arranged for a Special Issue on Suomi NPP Calibration and Validation Science Results to be published in Journal of Geophysical Research-Atmospheres. • The current schedule for the Special Issue will open for submissions in GEMS on 1 April 2013 and close to submissions on 30 June 2013. • As of now, a total of 15 EDR papers are allotted; they are trying to get this cap lifted but it may or may not happen. • We have proposed two papers, one focusing on the EDR Validation (based upon the original JPSS Cal/Val Plan), the other on the EDR Algorithm and the provisional maturity results. • The working titles are: • “Validation of Hyperspectral Infrared Sounder Environmental Data Records (EDRs): Application to the Cross-track Infrared Microwave Sounder Suite (CrIMSS)” • “The CrIMSS EDR Algorithm: Characterization, Optimization and Validation” • There’s a possibility that they may limit us to one paper only, in which case we intend to publish the Validation paper in a separate journal TBD.

  3. Near-Term Actions • Lead authors will work on providing outlines and skeleton drafts of these papers for review and discussion at future EDR telecons. • Lead authors will collaborate and/or consult with coauthors for input. • Coauthors are free to make suggestions. • I don’t expect that we’ll be able to have our final drafts ready for submission until the “last minute” 30 June deadline.
