  6. Why change the Research Process? • Lack of strategic direction • Bottom-up • Short-term focus • Customer involvement too little, too late • Lack of understanding and buy-in from senior management • Too resource intensive

  7. What are the proposed changes? • Creation of a Strategic Research Group • Creation of cross business Research Programme Groups • Involvement of suppliers through the National Framework Community • HA Board consulted earlier

  8. Strategic Research Group • Chaired by Ginny Clarke • Membership at SCS level, including DfT • Provide policy context, high level priorities • Horizon scanning, scenario planning

  9. Research Programme Groups • Chaired by SSR Divisional Directors • Members from SSR, NS, MP, TO and ID • Identify research issues and objectives • Review programme outputs • Act as customer • Champion research in the business
