Visegrad Cooperation • Established on February 15, 1991 inVisegrád (HU)(parallel to the 14th century royal meetings in Visegrád) • Common will to overcome the communist heritage and to “return to Europe” • Quick, tangible results (e.g. withdrawal of Soviet troops, joint accession into the EU) • Establishment of the Visegrad Fund in 2000(support of bottom-up cooperation on civil society level) • Orientation beyond the V4 region (since 2004):Western Balkan and Eastern Partnership dimensions www.visegradgroup.eu 2
Reasons Behind the Fund’s Establishment • Further deepening of cooperation during its revitalization in 1998–2000 • Strengthening ofcooperation on civil society level(as a pendant of state cooperation) • Protection against the Group’s “ups and downs” • Improvement of mutual knowledge of each other (internal and external promotion) • The Visegrad Fund = the group’s foreign-policy tool www.visegradgroup.eu 3
Basic Characteristics • (Financial support of) Movement of people and ideas • Strengthening of the internal cohesion of the region • Weakening of historical animosities and awareness-building • Instrument for theV4 foreign policy (since 2004) • The only solid organization of the group to date • Annual budget consists of equal contributions from member states (€1.75M p.a.), i.e., the total budget € 7 milions www.visegradfund.org www.visegradgroup.eu 4

V4EaP Grant & Mobility Programs • Flagship Projects • long-term projects of strategic character • 4 x V4 + 2 x EaP • Individual calls, individual budgets • V4EaP Standard Grants • medium-term projects up to 12 months • min. 2 x V4 + 1 x EaP • budgets: €6,001+ • Visegrad University Studies Grants • for university courses and degree programs dealing with V4 • Budgets ca. €10,000/course and €40,000/degree program • Visegrad Scholarship Program • academic mobility: €2,300/sem. V4EaP Extended Standard GrantsBasic Grant Principles • deadline of December 17, 2012 • involvement minumum of 3 V4 project partners + 1 EaP project partner • grant covers up to 90% project costs • budget per project: up to € 70,000 • project duration: 12 - 18 months • reimbursements in tranches with advance payments (up to 80% of project costs) • 7% overhead costs • 7% tangible and intangible assets(comuputer, software, ...) • costs documented through copiesof invoices and bills (no originals required)
Visegrad University Studies Grant • Budget:€80,000 • Deadline:10 November • Grant for the development and launching of Visegrad-related university courses or degree programs • Ca. support €10,000/course, €40,000/degree program • The course is expected to secure for each semester of its enrollment at least two (course) three (program) relevantguestlecturerfromdifferent V4 countries
V4EAP Scholarship Program • Support of Master’s (MA) and Post-Master’s (PhD) levels at any public or private University in V4 countries • Scholarship length: 1–4 semesters • Support of both the scholar and host university €2,300/sem. (scholars) + €1,500/sem. (host university)+ a possibility of a €200 travel grant • Deadline:January 31 annualy
CompulsoryAnnexes • Copy of the certified translation of a diploma (Master’s or the highestobtained) • In case of applying for Master’s scholarship a certified translation of transcript of records covering the entireuniversity studies is also required • Acceptance Letter fromthehostuniversity/institution(preliminary acceptance letter) • In case of applying for Post-Master’s scholarship a letter ofrecommendation from the home university is also required • Working plan of the studies/researchperiod
VisegradScholarships at OSA • Joint project between the Fund and the Open Society Archives at CEU BudapestResearch • fellowships at the Open Society Archives at the Central European University in Budapest • 10 annual fellowships (8 x V4, 3 x non-V4) • max. research periods of 2 months • €2,000/project • Deadlines: October 10, 2012 and January 10 and April 10, 2013
