Pygmalion

2. On the island of Cyprus, there lived an amazing sculptor named Pygmalion. Some people say that he was such a brilliant sculptor that none of his sculptures were ever the same. Sometimes he thought his sculptures looked so realistic that they might come alive in his hands.

3. Pygmalion never wanted to sell any of his masterpieces, because he thought every single one had a little bit of sentimental value to him.

4. One night, as Pygmalion lay fast asleep, he dreamt of a beautiful maiden. When he awoke, for the first time he felt lonely. He could not get his mind off the gorgeous women.

5. That morning, Pygmalion wondered if the woman was real and if he could ever find her. When he started to sculpt he could not get the beautiful image of the lady out of his mind. Finally he decided to sculpt her.

6. After he was finished with his sculpture, he praised her with gifts such as jewelry, flowers for her hair, pearls, and expensive clothes. He named her Galatea.

7. Once every year, Aphrodite hosts a feast for all of Crypus. Pygmalion had never had any interest for the feast or love. This year was different. Pygmalion begged Aphrodite for the woman of his dreams to come to life.

8. When he returned home, Galatea was exactly where he left her. She was as still as stone. When he held her hands, he felt her body temperature rising. When he looked up, he saw her cheeks turn red. Pygmalion saw the same beautiful smile he saw in the dream.

9. Their love grew instantly for each other as they exchanged wedding vows. They had the beautiful wedding that Pygmalion had dreamed he’d have.

10. Soon after the marriage, the happy couple was blessed with a son named Paphos. He had later founded the city of Paphos in Crypus.

11. Then, they had a healthy baby girl. Her name was Metharmie.

12. But the point is that Pygmalion, Galatea, Paphos, and Metharmielived happily ever after in Cyprus.
