What can be analyzed? Basic skills e.g. lateral pass in rugby Ability to perform in game Tactics and strategies e.g. Defence, attack, communication, set pieces Success of skills and general play Fitness of the performers e.g. Referring to components of fitness Technique of skills Overall effectiveness during the game/activity Intermediate and advanced skills e.g. Lines of running in rugby, counter rucking etc
Important information to comment on! Methods used to record performance: Notes = Detailed notes by you of the performer. Checklist for the performance = lists actions to be compared to perfect model. Individuals performance during the game = records actions during game, success or failure of performer. Team performance = effectiveness of the team performance to help talk about tactics and strategies.
Action plan You need to set GOALS! Use SMARTER! S = Specific = specific to the sport e.g. Time or distance for an athlete M = Measurable = measured against normal's A = Achieved = Agree on specific goal to improve performance. R = Realistic = set to level of skill of performer. T = Time based = A timetable of training set out, allows time for improvement. E = Exiting = Keeps performer motivated R = Recorded = Results and progress recorded and how this will be done. Evidence to help you improve performance in you action plan, you should: Analyse data, watch video again and again, study coaching manuals for drills and methods, watch training videos, study skills in the sport
