Titus 2:1-15 • Teaching various classes of individuals • V1 – Speak sound doctrine so: • V2 – Aged men: wise, grave, temperate, faithful, charitable, patient • Examples: Job, Abraham, Hezekiah, Nehemiah, Mordecai, • V3 – Aged women: holy behavior, not false accusers, not given to wine, teachers of good things • Examples: Naomi, Eunice, Lois • V4-5 – Younger women: wise, love their husbands and children • Examples: Hannah, Esther • V6 – Younger men: wise • Examples: Joseph, Joshua, Caleb, Samuel • V7-8 – Be an example • Pattern of good works, • Teaching doctrine showing purity, gravity and sincerity
Titus 2:1-15 • V9-10 – Instructions to Servants • Be obedient to your masters • Please them well in all things • Speaking well of them • Be loyal and do not steal • Why? • Their masters may see the doctrine of God to be attractive
Titus 2:1-15 • V11-14 – Live seriously and righteously • God’s grace teaches us • Deny ungodliness and worldly lusts • Live wisely, righteously, and godly • Look for the hope of eternal life in Christ • We are a to be a peculiar people zealous of good works. • V15 – Speak all of these things • Exhort and rebuke with authority and confidence • Let no one despise you for doing right.
