SCHOOLS, GOV’T, & RELIGION • Schools included both a mixture of boys and girls • Not as strict (girls didn’t have to wear veils) • Islamic religion was there, however citizens were not forced to act religious • Before the revolution, The shah was ruling.
CLOTHING & FAMILY TRADITIONS • Westernized clothing (jeans, tee shirts, sandals.) • Families had modern lifestyles and fancy cars • Not as conservative as it was during the revolution.
Affects of the Revolution • Girls did not like to wear the veil • People were angry and wanted to overthrow the shah • Schooling was different. • When the US got involved, the Iranian government took 66 US citizens hostage
