  2. Ag Farm Fire Marshall Inspection • 1.) All extension cords need to be a heavy duty outdoor type extension cord with ground plug 12/3 ga ( no white or brown residential cords without ground plugs) • 2.) All Christmas lights need to be removed from pens • 3.) Heat lamps need to be secured with a strap or zip tie. Simply clamping them to a frame, post or box is insufficient.

  3. Ag Farm Fire Marshall Inspection • 4.) All flammable materials such as boxes or feed sacks need to be removed from poultry pens or stored in an appropriate container. • 5.) In the pig barns there are several heat lamps near water sources that need to be moved.

  4. Pre-Show Schedule • Eligibility: Those who are currently ineligible…check with your Ag Teacher on Thursday February 9th to see if you have re-gained eligibility. • If you have not, then arrangements need to be made to remove than animal from the Farm

  5. Pre-Show Schedule • For these next few weeks, paying attention to weigh days and schedules is IMPERATIVE!! • See your species information slides for details about where you should be and when. • If in doubt, ASK!

  6. Clipping of Animals • Will begin SOON!!! • Please sign-up before you leave tonight for a day and time…if you do not, then you are responsible for clipping your own animal. • See species slides for specific dates and times

  7. Selecting Show Projects • For small animals, this will be done at various times- make sure you look at your area slides!

  8. Hauling Animals to Show • The Ag Teachers will coordinate a group of parent volunteers to haul Large Animal Projects to show on the morning of Thursday, Feb 16th. • If you will be hauling your OWN large animal project you need to let us know.

  9. Hauling Animals to Show • Small animal projects and other show projects MUST be hauled to the show facility individually. • All of these projects need to be in place by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 16th. • Failure to arrive on time will mean not being able to show your project

  11. What Do I Wear To Show? Don’t have official dress?!?! We will have a limited amount in a box of extra jackets/ties/scarves at the show Lost tie/scarf? Order a new one at www.ffa.org Due to non-return of items, you must leave a “deposit” when you borrow our items. Check them in and out with Mrs. Ressler

When Am I Out of School? • All students who show a project will be IN school on Thursday, February 16th. • All students who show a project will be OUT of school on Friday, February 17th. • If you have a small animal project that shows Thurs night and you want to choose to go to school Friday, let Mr. Resendez know so he does not put you on the excusal list.

  19. Breeding Rabbits • Arrive with your bunnies by 4:30 pm Thursday Feb 16th • Bring them in a cage- they will remain there before and after show • Check-in by 4:30pm in the Show Ring with your Bunnies • Breeding Rabbit Show will begin promptly at 5:00pm

  20. Breeding Rabbits • Rabbits will be shown in 4 divisions • Jr Doe • Jr Buck • Sr Doe • Sr Buck • The winners of each division will compete for overall Champion and Reserve • At the conclusion of the show, take your rabbits home with you

Fryer Rabbits • I will select your 3 show bunnies on Tues, Feb 14th at 3:00pm at the school • On show day, Arrive with your bunnies by 4:30 pm Thursday Feb 16th • Bring them in a cage- they will remain there before the show • Check-in by 4:30pm in the Show Ring with your Bunnies – we will have to check each of their tattoos

  22. Fryer Rabbits • The Fryer Rabbit Show will begin at the conclusion of the breeding show. • At the conclusion of the show, Rabbits placed 1st thru 11th will be caged in pens on the other side of the barn (10 auction + 1 alternate) • Rabbits placed 12th and on will return home with you due to available pen space

Fryer Rabbits • All students who do not make auction will be able to bring their Rabbits BACK to the show barn Saturday morning in your carrying cage to sell them in the tent sale. • There will be tables set-up in the Auction Ring to display and sell your rabbits from • If you do not wish to sell your rabbits, you do not have to bring them back

Fryer Rabbits • At the conclusion of the sale, verify the destination for your animals. • Rabbits donated to Boys and Girls Country will need to remain at the show barn to be picked up. • Others will need to be processed and delivered to the buyer. • Processing information will be available on our website.

  25. Horticulture & Vegetable • Your projects need to be in place by 4:30 pm on Thurs Feb 16th • Your portfolio containing at least 6 different pictures should accompany your project • Vegetables need to be “bunched” or “plated” by the guidelines referenced in the show rules…if you don’t have these, see Mrs. Ressler for information.

  26. Horticulture & Vegetable • Judging will begin at 6:30pm • Grand & Reserve plus 3 additional projects will make auction • All others wishing to sell in tent sale, either leave there or bring back Saturday morning. • See me if you need help with your project/portfolio!!!

  27. Turkeys • All show birds will be picked Friday, February 10th. • Arrive with your turkeys by 4:30pm on Thurs Feb 16th at the Show Barn • Check-in on the concrete side of the barn when you arrive • You will need to have something to house your bird in until show time

Turkeys • Turkey show will begin at 7:00pm • 1st thru 10th will make Auction and will remain at the Show barn • All non-auction turkeys will be taken home Thursday night • If you want to sell your bird in the tent sale, be sure to be there on Saturday • Make arrangements to have bird processed following show and deliver to your buyer.

  29. Broilers • Broiler Selection for show will be Monday, Feb 13th. • Arrive with your broilers by 4:30pm on Thurs Feb 16th at the Show Barn • Check-in on the concrete side of the barn when you arrive • You will need to have something to house your birds in until show time

Broilers • Broiler show will follow the Turkey show which begins at 7:00pm • 1st thru 10th will make Auction • All non-auction broilers will be taken home Thursday night • If you want to sell your bird in the tent sale, be sure to be there on Saturday • Make arrangements to have birds processed following show and deliver to your buyer.

  31. Turkeys & Broilers • Make arrangements to have ALL birds (show and cull) taken to the processor and removed from the farm by Monday, March 5th.

  32. Heifers • Your show begins Friday morning at 8:00am • The show is blow-and-go • Grand & Reserve will need to take pictures by the back-drop following the show

Steers • Continue weighing every Tuesday until show • I will tell each of you final show feeding/water schedules depending on where your steer is at. • Sign-up for a time to slick shear your steer on the back table • Steers will be weighed in on Thursday, Feb 16th at 5:oopm • After your steer is weighed in you may feed and water

  34. Steers • DO NOT leave on Thursday evening until you know what class your steer is in • Check w/ Mrs. Ressler about when to be there and what to do Friday morning • Steer show will be Friday morning immediately following the Heifer show (probably around 8:45-9:00am)

  35. Steers • Grand & Reserve plus the top 3 in every class will make auction • We will re-tag animals Saturday night- DO NOT remove the ear tag from your steer at the show or you will be charged for a new one.

  36. Lambs • Workday for final feeding instructions when Mr. Resendez returns! • Clipping: Wednesday, Feb 15th at school • Lambs need to be washed on Tuesday and a blanket placed on them • Put them on the trailer by 7:00am on Wed Feb 15th • Ration water as instructed by Mr. Resendez beginning Monday the week of show

  37. Lambs • On Thursday morning, Feb 16th LEAVE A HALTER on your pen for your lamb • Lambs will be weighed in on Thursday, Feb 16th at 5:00pm • DO NOT feed or water on Thursday until instructed to do so by Mr. Resendez • Do not leave on Thursday until you know what weight class your lamb is in

Lambs • Mr. Resendez will tell you what time to be at the Show Barn Friday morning to drench and feed • The Lamb Show will be on Friday morning, Feb 17th immediately following the Steer show (probably around 10:00am) • Grand & Reserve plus the top 3 in every class will make auction • DO NOT remove the ear tag from your lamb at the show or you will be charged for a new one.

Goats • Mr. Resendez will tell you what time to be at the Show Barn Friday morning to drench and feed • The Goat Show will be on Friday morning, Feb 16th immediately following the Lamb show (probably around 11:30am-12:00pm) • Per the rules addendum you received, there will be 5 classes of Goats- The top 2 in every class will make auction – plus the 3rd from Grand Champion’s class • DO NOT remove the ear tag from your goat at the show or you will be charged for a new one.

  42. Pigs • Weigh Days: • Thurs, Feb 5th at 3:30pm • Thurs, Feb 9th after school • Wed, Feb 15th after school, Juice pigs • Clipping: will be done for pigs Mon to Thurs Feb 6th-9th. Sign-up for a day before you leave the meeting tonight!!! Students who are currently ineligible- if you re-gain eligibility, clipping will be done Fri, Feb 10th.

  43. Pigs • Following Pre-show feeding instructions as given by Mr. Reaves • Pigs will be weighed in on Thursday, Feb 16th at 5:00pm • DO NOT feed or water on Thursday until instructed to do so by Mr. Reaves • Do not leave on Thursday until you know what weight class your pig is in

Pigs • Mr. Reaves will tell you what time to be at the Show Barn Friday morning feed, etc • The Pig Show will be on Friday, Feb 17th immediately following the Goat show (probably around 1:30pm) • During the show STAY OUT of the aisles!!! • Grand & Reserve plus the top 5 in every class will make auction • DO NOT remove the ear tag from your pig at the show or you will be charged for a new one.

  45. Ag Mechanics • Ag Mech projects will need to be “cleaned-up” Thursday evening • The Ag Mech show starts at 10:00am on Friday, Feb 17th

  46. Floral Design Competition • Floral Design Workshop • Thursday, February 9th 2:30pm- Mrs. Ressler’s room. I will demo 2 designs- if you want “hands-on” practice- bring $7.00 by Feb 3rd • Floral Design Contest • Begins at 10:00am on Friday Feb 17th • You will have 90 minutes to complete your design • Grand & Reserve will make auction • Others may be sold in the tent sale • Take designs home on Friday and bring them back Saturday Morning

  47. IF YOU MAKE AUCTION • MANDATORY Auction Meeting • Friday, Feb 17th at 6:00pm SHARP! • If you are not there, you lose your auction spot! • Auction begins at 11:00am • Stay near your project

  49. Trophy & Buckle Award Winners • Meet at the Show Barn at 9:00am on Saturday, February 18th • You will greet and sit with your sponsor. • The Presentation will begin at 9:30am • Following the Presentation we will take “school” pictures, so, stick around!

  50. NON-AUCTION STUDENTS • Tent Sale will be open from 8:00am-5:00pm • Come to the Auction and CHEER LOUDLY for Klein Collins FFA students…the more excitement in the air, the more the buyers spend!
