Author • Autobiography describing the life of Jeanne Houston’s Japanese-American family. • She begins her story on December 7, 2941, with the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the immediate aftermath, which marked the beginning of her family’s struggle against the fear and prejudice sweeping American. • After her family is taken away accused of spying, the rest of the family is forced to move to the Japanese-American interment camp, Manzanar. • Japanese American internment was the World War II internment in "War Relocation Camps" of about 110,000 people of Japanese heritage who lived on the Pacific coast of the United States
