2009-2010 Results Total Number of Programs/Units: 11
2009-2010 Results Beginning Unit: Sustainability and Energy Fewer than the required outcomes; unclear as to whether other buildings were retrofitted but did not achieve the desired results. Overall the data was relevant and useful for the work unit.
2009-2010 Results Exemplary Unit : Finance and Accounting Finance and Accounting looked at the assessment process two fold. First, they used standard audits and legal requirements to measure if they are conducting financial business correctly. Second, the department looked at the human factor and how to improve the effectiveness by measuring trainee satisfaction. This in effect reduces errors and improves the efficiency of Finance and Accounting.
2010-2011 Plan Total Number of Programs/Units: 11
2010 – 2011 Plan Emerging Unit: Landscape and Natural Resources The performance targets were not specific or quantifiable. The department has faced multiple challenges this year. The department has been without a director for approximately one year, and staff have had other priority issues to deal with to ensure the department was meeting the growing needs of the university.
2010-2011 Plan Exemplary Unit : Human Resources UCF Human Resources continues to strive to use the assessment process to improve process and maintain excellence. This year Human Resources specifically tied their plan to the UCF Strategic plan. Additionally, Human Resources continues to use the previous assessment cycle data as a foundation for current year objectives.
OVERALL DRC • RUBRIC EXPERIENCE • The Rubric was very easy to use • The rubric should take into account those departments that may only use one measure of performance. (Ex. Sustainability and Energy Management uses an industry standard to measure energy consumption) • PRESENT THE MENTORING STRATEGIES USED AND HOW THEY IMPACTED THESE PLANS • My strategy was to stress that the department should measure what is important to its mission, not what is easy or create new measures. • I need to begin my mentoring strategies earlier.
