Before there was TEXSPIN • TEXSPIN CEN/ISSS Workshop (2002-2003) was a sectorial standardisation initiative aiming to provide a standard framework for the integration of the European Textile/Clothing/Distribution chain • The starting point were the legacy of EDITEX and • eTeXML (focused in France on link manufacturing - retailing) • MODA-ML (focused in Italy on manufacturing integration) • The Technological objective was to establish a pre-normative -low cost but scalable- platform for the B2B exchanges in the T/C sector based on XML and Internet technologies • Results (CWA14948/2003) • (Suggested) Business models for fabric and clothing supplying • 19 Formats for document exchange (XML templates: order of fabric or garment, despatch advise, quality report, advancement status, …etc) • A common dictionary • 200 Firms were directly contacted or participated to the meetings; • Some articles on specialised magazines and newspapers • Further Work to be carried out: • Spread adoption, increase support to further business processes, face problems arising from cross-border and cross sectorial transactions,…

Texweave, objectives • CEN/ISSS workshop proposed by Euratex • 18 months, 9 experts+dissemination (292000 € budget) • Objectives (from draft BP) • Methodological improvements and standardization supports • Extension of the supply chain coverage • Fostering Pilot experiences and build a Web Platform(for documentation and awareness support, not operational) • Analysis on Cross sectorial eBusiness and standardization scenarios • Awareness creation and Dissemination on standards and interoperability

WP 1: Methodological improvements and standardization supports • Task 1.1 - Analysis of the different scenario at national level in some countries in Europe with relevant T/C industry • Task 1.2 - Definition of a common logical infrastructure of the dictionary and of the repository of business scenarios • Task 1.3 - Development of a Web based infrastructure for the dictionary and for the repository of business scenarios • Task 1.4 - Filling of the sectorial dictionary of terms (Filling of the repositories) • Task 1.5 - Feasibility of the submission of sectorial Core Components to UN/CEFACT

WP 2: Extension of the supply chain coverage • Task 2.1 - Intercompany workflows in the fabric manufacturing focused on yarn supplying and dieing • Subtask 2.1.1- Analysis and design for manufacturing chain integration • Subtask 2.1.2- Improvement of the interoperability framework • Task 2.2 - Improved services to the customers and better integration with retailing organizations • Subtask 2.2.1 – Analysis and design for retail organizations integration • Subtask 2.2.2 - Improvement of downstream XML messages

  8. WP 3: Pilots and Platform • Task 3.1 - TEX-WEAVE Deployment Methodology and Cost-Benefit Analysis • Task 3.2 - TEX-WEAVE Compliance Certification method • Task 3.3 - Fostering TEX-WEAVE applications • Task 3.4 - Identification of the Industrial Pilot User

WP 4: Cross sectorial eBusiness and standardization scenarios • Task 4.1 - Analysis of Existing Business Processes • Task 4.2 - Re-design of Business Processes According to TCSIP (Textile Cross Sectorial Interface Profile) • Task 4.3 - Feasibility Study According to TCSIP • Task 4.4 - Demonstration and Creation of Acceptance

  10. WP 5: Awareness creation and dissemination on standards and interoperability • Task 5.1 – EU Level Conferences • Task 5.2 – National Workshops and Awareness creations • Task 5.3 – Online services and other publications • Help desk, web site, local training workshops, newsletter

Highlights • Vertical specifications • Extremely focused on processes • Ready-to-use templates • Strong data typing • Use of predefined codes as much as possible • Innovative processes and services • Different requirements upside/downside the Supply Chain • Same framework for SMEs as well as large companies
