The Destination Management Organisation(DMO) • Tourism Destination Management - public-private partnership in the tourism institution-system • Co-operation - based on voluntary partnership of tourism entrepreneurs, civil organisations and local municipalities • Objective- to make more attractive and functional the local area/sub-region/region/country as a tourist destination • Partners - accommodation, restaurants, travel agents, guides, attractions, local residents’ cultural, ecclesial, etc. associations

  9. Task of DMOs • Local level • Organising cooperation of local tourism stakeholders • Developing local tourist product • Collecting data of local tourist supply and provide information services for tourists • Monitoring local tourism performance • Participating in sub-regional cooperation

Task of DMOs • Sub-regional level • Organising cooperation of tourism stakeholders • Designing and implementing domestic marketing actions • Collecting data of tourist supply and forwarding them to regional/ national database • Monitoring sub-regional tourism performance • Participating in regional cooperation

  11. Task of DMOs • Regional level • Promoting collaboration of stakeholders • Preparing tourism development strategy • Designing and implementing domestic marketing campaigns • Monitoring the implementation of regional tourism strategy • Cooperating with other regional bodies involved in tourism

  12. Task of DMOs • National level • Participating in implementation of the National Tourism Development Strategy • Carrying out surveys on tourism demand, supply, the socio-economic and environmental impacts • Implementing international marketing campaigns together with regional DMO-s

International Cooperation • Involvement in international organisations • UNWTO, OECD Tourism Committee, EU Tourism Unit • Governmental cooperation between Hungary and other countries participating in DATOURWAY • Slovakia: • V4 cooperation in tourism marketing • Discussion on tourism related issues in Intergovernmental Joint Committee for Cross-Border Cooperation
