Field Courses for 2009 • BI367 Field Botany - Medicinal Plants of Ontario • 11 – 22 May (Dr. Cotea) • BI391 Field Ecology of Southern Ontario • 24 May – 6 June (Dr. Woodcock) • BI390 & 392 Field Studies - OUPFB I & II
Structure of a Typical Field Course • Two weeks of intensive study • First week devoted to instruction, student seminars • Second week, work on independent projects • Written report submitted four weeks after completion of field work
What does it cost? • Tuition fees for 0.5 credit (~$530) to WLU • Accommodation and food ($475 – $2200) • $250 deposit to WLU • balance to host university • Transportation
How do I sign up? In mid-December: • See the notice board outside N3032 • See OUPFB web site for individual course outlines In January: • Download and complete application form • Submit form + $250 deposit to Biology Office • Submissions begin 12 January 8:30 am • Continue through 4 February 4:30 pm
How Do I Get My Credit? • Register for the appropriate course code in the appropriate term • BI367 and BI391: Spring term • BI390 and BI392: Spring or Fall • Modules in May–June: Spring term • Modules in July–August: Fall term • Permission to enroll will be set up on LORIS for you by the Biology Department • Pay your tuition fees to the University • See the Registrar’s Office website for the appropriate deadlines
Marine Sciences Courses at Huntsman • For courses given by Ontario Universities, follow OUPFB instructions • For courses given by UNB and McGill, apply directly to Huntsman Marine Sciences Centre • Deadline is 31 March • Follow procedures for letter of permission (Registrar’s Office webpage)
