  3. CoVE Objectives • Main Themes • To increase the number of level 3 vocational qualifications across the sector. • Employer engagement. • Promote the sector. • Provide flexible, relevant training. • Share best practice

  4. CoVE Objectives • Young People • Address the issues which discourage young people from following a career in our industry. • Highlight the many diverse careers we can offer. • Promote our industry proactively in schools through better communication allowing young people the chance to make a more informed choice of career paths. • Establish viable progression pathways.

CoVE Objectives Employers • Show a willingness to listen and understand employer wants & needs. • Deliver a high-level of responsiveness and service. • Offer a can-do attitude. • Provide the customer with quality training with flexibility in delivery. • Give the required information/guidance, which is simple and straight to the point (No jargon). • Break down the barriers to complicated funding models.

CoVE Objectives • Providers • We need to change the way we offer and deliver training. • We need to become more innovative and responsive to employers needs. • We need to offer the flexibility to deliver quality training where and when it’s needed. • Drive the change process from the inside out.

  7. The Cove provides education and training in engineering and manufacturing via the provider network over a range of areas including; • Pre 16 year old • GCSE Engineering • Young Apprenticeship Scheme • Vocational Taster Courses • Employer Links

  8. Pre 16 year old • GCSE Engineering • Double Award • Two year duration • Team taught • Rigorous selection • Extended curriculum options

  9. Pre 16 year old Young Apprenticeships • Two-year programme for Y10/11. • Vocational qualification • Work towards a Technical certificate • Key Skills • Work Placements • Progression onto apprenticeship scheme, full- time education or employment

Pre 16 year old • Vocational Taster Courses • Units towards PEO/NVQ level 1 and 2 • Multi-discipline short tasters • Summer schools • School visits/out of hours tasters • Involve Employers more in the promotion of our sector to young people and help provide better, more structured pathways into our industry.

  11. The Cove provides education and training in engineering and manufacturing via the provider network over a range of areas including; • Post 16 year old • Apprenticeship Schemes • Engineering Scholarship • Vocational Courses full and part time attendance • Employer Links • Learning Pods

  12. Post 16 year old Apprenticeships • 16 to 25 year old • Semi-skilled status • GCSE grades D to G or better in Maths, Science and English • Key Skills (Communication & I.T.) • One year duration

  13. Post 16 year old Advanced Apprenticeships • 16 to 25+ year old • Skilled status • GCSE grades C or better in Maths, Science and English • NVQ Level 2 and 3 • Technical Certificate • Key Skills (5) • 3 year duration

  14. Post 16 year old Engineering Scholarship • Bursary • Attractive to employers • Chance of employment • Progression onto Advanced Apprenticeship

  15. Post 16 year old • Vocational Courses • Full-time and part-time provision • Free to under 18’s and unemployed • Nationally recognised qualifications • Work placements on full-time programmes • Additional extended curriculum on full-time
