Capacity Building Workshop on Trade Facilitation Implementation for ASIA and Pacific Region ASEAN Single Window 17-18 March 2005, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Key Objective To expedite and simplify information flow between government and trade and bring meaningful gain to all parties involved in international trade. To establish a viable, simplified, standardized and integrated environment for cargo clearance in line with international best practices To reduce time and resources needed for cargo clearance

Inter-Agency Task Force • Design a model for the ASEAN Single Window • Establish and operate mechanisms of consultation and decision making among involved ministries and agencies for the effective implementation of ASEAN Single Window • Undertake the harmonization and standardization of data and information relevant to the ASEAN Single Window • Draft an agreement to enforce the implementation of the ASEAN Single Window

Roadmap Towards ASEAN Single Window Mode Phase I (Aug 2004 – Nov 2004) • Establishment National Single Window Task Force • Compilation of related documents • Compilation of relevant procedures and functions Phase II (Dec 2004 – Mar 2005) • Analysis of data structures and business process flows • Formulation of the new business process flows • Development of the technical documents • Development of the draft ASEAN agreement
