  2. GROUNDS FOR DIVORCE Matthew 19:1-9 1.How does God feel about divorce? -Malachi 2:16 God says, “I hate putting away/divorce.” -God hates the sin; NOT the sinner! -God is talking to leadership. #It’s easy for people to treat marriage haphazardly because leaders are doing it.

GROUNDS FOR DIVORCE Matthew 19:1-9 2.What does the Bible say about divorce? -(VS.1-6) God intended for marriage to be forever. #There was no such thing as divorce IN THE BEGINNING. 3.What does the Bible say about divorce? -(VS.7-8) God PERMITTED Moses to give divorce because man would not forgive. #God’s Perfect Will VS. God’s Permissive Will

GROUNDS FOR DIVORCE Matthew 19:1-9 4.What does the Bible say about divorce? -(VS.9) Fornication/ Adultery is grounds for divorce IF WE JUST CAN’T FORGIVE. #Matthew 6:14-15- we must give forgiveness to receive forgiveness. -Fornication/Adultery gives us reason to get out the marriage; however in God’s PERFECT WILL, it brings him more glory for two individuals to work things out and be reconciled. (2Corinthians 5:18-19)

GROUNDS FOR DIVORCE 1 Corinthians 7:10-16 5.What does the Bible say about divorce? -If two people are married and they are unequally yoked and the unbeliever leaves; this is grounds for divorce. #It does not mean that there has to be a divorce; THERE IS NOTHING TOO HARD FOR OUR GOD! 6.What about ABUSE? -(VS.15) God is a God of peace. #Separation does not always mean divorce.

  6. GROUNDS FOR DIVORCE God’s Forgiveness 7. Lamentations 3:22-23 -God is faithful even when we are unfaithful. -God gives us new mercies everyday. 8. 1John 1:9 -God forgives us and cleanses us when we confess our sins.
