SPS RF FARADAY CAGE • PURPOSE: To upgrade the existing TG3-based system with a new CTRV-based system, therefore allowing: • 8 events/ms on the GMT cable. • FESA multi-cycling. • Usage of standard configuration and diagnostics software provided by AB-CO. • Documenting this important part of the timing system in the same central DB as the rest. SPS RF FARADAY CAGE • SCOPE (1/2) • Every G64 crate is composed of TG3s and opto-fanout modules. • Take the G64 crates in groups of two and replace every group by a combination of one VME crate and one G64 crate (no TG3s, only for the fan-out modules). SPS RF FARADAY CAGE • SCOPE (2/2): work breakdown • Preparing 7 cable bundles (40 lemo 00 each). • Understanding the current installation in terms of SW and proposing a new configuration. • Procurement of 8 VME systems (crate + CPU), 70 CTRV cards, 35 fan-out cards plus miscellaneous material (fans, passe-cables,…). • Requesting extra Ethernet connections in the BA3 Faraday Cage. • Cabling in BA3 (6 VME crates) and BA2 (1 VME crate). • Software configuration and installation.
