Data Communications Implementation Team (DCIT) DCL Trials Review – Craig Morris
DTAP Status • Data Comm Trials Automation Platform (DTAP) acquisition in process: • Modifies COTS to provide DCL over FANS • Minimizes platform/software development to the extent possible • S/W development and automation platform to meet safety and operational requirements • Planned acquisition in two steps • Engineering to be awarded shortly • Development and fielding to be awarded after engineering complete • Acceptance testing in summer 2012 • Supports FY12 trial IOC and all planned trial sites • Fully coordinated with DCIS contract activity
Data Communications Implementation Team (DCIT) Decision Lens Results – Gregg Anderson
Site Selection – Decision Lens Status • Decision Lens panel vote complete: • Training / Agreement on criteria held 9/14 • Actual conduct of voting on 9/15 • Trials sites order in attached • Next Steps: - Trials team to confirm final site availability with FAA Service Area and facility management officials • Final order/selection coordination with airlines and FAA Management planned • Final Selected facility/operator for Site #1 outreach planned for MOU development during 11/11
Data Communications Implementation Team (DCIT) DCL End-to-End Scenario Review – Rob Mead
Data Communications Implementation Team (DCIT) Ground Test Facility– Gregg Anderson
Would a ground test facility be economically beneficial A Ground test facility could provide the following benefits: • A representative ground test facility in accordance with AC 20-140A, necessary for regulatory validation compliance. • An avionics engineering development test tool for interoperability/functionality. • A representative ATC Data Comm end system that would potentially minimize regulatory oversight by allowing a ground-to-ground connection between avionics and ATSU. This may afford a reduction in aircraft cert office imposed lab, ground and flight testing in support of type design and flight standards inspector operational approvals. • Ability to create an FAA monitoring and reporting system allowing for early identification of deficiency reports that may impact our ground and airborne standards (i.e. SC214/WG78).
