The BalkanMed Programme in a nutshell The overall objective of the BalkanMedProgramme is to build on shared territorial assets and promote integrated territorial development and cooperation for a more competitive and sustainable Balkan-Mediterranean area. • Programme budget and co-financing rate • BalkanMed budget incl. national contribution: € 39.727.654,00 M • Available EU funds: € 33.456.246,00 M • out of which Available ERDF funds: € 28.330.108,00 M • Available IPA II funds: €5.126.138,00 M • EU co-financing rate: 85% (excl. Technical Assistance) • No “Common POT” (ERDF + IPA II) Programme management structures MA, JS: located in Thessaloniki, Greece CA, AA: located in Athens, Greece Programme language The official language of the Programme is English. Priority Axis 1: Entrepreneurship & Innovation Common Strategic Framework Thematic Objective 3: Enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs, the agricultural sector (for the EAFRD) & the fisheries & aquaculture sector (for the EMFF) Investment Priority 3a: Promoting entrepreneurship, in particular by facilitating the economic exploitation of new ideas and fostering the creation of new firms, including through business incubators Investment Priority 3d: Supporting the capacity of SMEs to grow in regional, national and international markets, and to engage in innovation processes Thematic Objective 10: Investing in education, training and vocational training for skills and lifelong learning Investment Priority 10a: Investing in education, training and vocational training for skills and lifelong learning by developing education and training infrastructure Available ERDF budget: € 10.198.839,00 M Available IPA budget: € 1.845.410,00 M = 36% of ERDF and IPA budget Transnational Cooperation Programme Interreg ‘Balkan-Mediterranean 2014-2020’ 06 Balkan-Mediterranean is co-financed by European Union and National Funds

Priority Axis 1: Entrepreneurship & Innovation The Priority Axis 1 ‘Entrepreneurship & Innovation’ ensures an integrated, structured and inclusive approach (1) to effectively address territorial competitiveness and skills’ gap, (2) to overcome markets’ fragmentation and (3) to foster business environment that could further unleash untapped cooperation potential. Thematic keywords: territorial competitiveness; innovation capacity; skills’ development, economic growth. Types of beneficiaries (non-exhaustive list): Umbrella organisations of SMEs (such as chambers of commerce, of industry, economic chambers and other legal entities representing SMEs or SMEs professional networks in the programme area); Development and planning agencies; Local, regional and national authorities involved in business’ management; Technology transfer centres and universities; Innovation support networks; Non-governmental and Civil Society organisations. Priority Axis 2: Environment Common Strategic Framework Thematic Objective 6: Preserving and protecting the environment and promoting resource efficiency Investment Priority 6c: Conserving, protecting, promoting and developing natural and cultural heritage Investment Priority 6f: Promoting innovative technologies to improve environmental protection and resource efficiency in the waste sector, water sector and with regard to soil, or to reduce air pollution Thematic Objective 11: Enhancing institutional capacity of public authorities and stakeholders and efficient public administration Investment Priority 11a: Enhancing institutional capacity of public authorities and stakeholders and efficient public administration through actions to strengthen the institutional capacity and the efficiency of public administrations and public services related to the implementation of the ERDF, and in support of actions under the ESF to strengthen the institutional capacity and the efficiency of public administration Available ERDF budget: € 16.148.162,00 M Available IPA budget: € 2.921.897,00 M = 57% of ERDF and IPA budget 11 Balkan-Mediterranean is co-financed by European Union and National Funds

Priority Axis 2: Environment The Priority Axis 2 ‘Environment’ ensures an integrated, holistic approach (1) to improve the environment, (2) to strengthen sustainable development and (3) to generate sustainable growth and sustainable employment that could set the basis for shared sustainable growth goals. • Thematic keywords: biodiversity; sustainable development, inclusive growth, employment; ecosystem-based management. • Types of beneficiaries (non-exhaustive list): Local, regional and national authorities; Environmental and development agencies; Protected/designated areas’ management organisations and bodies; Non-governmental and Civil Society organisations; Umbrella organisations of SMEs (such as chambers of commerce, of industry, economic chambers and other legal entities representing SMEs or SMEs professional networks in the programme area). Coordination and Complementarity as success factors • Coordination with other Regional/ Sectoral/ National Operational Programmes, • Coordination with other ETC programmes (transnational and bilateral Programmes) • Coordination with other Union instruments • Beyond ETC:integrate all EU, national, regional, local and private funds for common shared projects. • Ensure no overlap and none function on a competitive basis. 01 Balkan-Mediterranean is co-financed by European Union and National Funds
