Objectives To increase capacity in KBP up to 80 movements per hour taking into account the following: • how to increase efficiency to minimize costs to the airlines • how to manage runway safety • how to deal with environmental issues BORYSPIL ACE & PLANNING STUDY
Current situation in KBP • 2 independent parallel RWYs, mixed operation mode; • 2 parallel TWYs; • declared capacity – 45 m/hr; • real throughput – 36-44 m/hr in peak hours; • negligible number of low visibility days; • 84 routes (12 nat., 72 internat.) BORYSPIL ACE & PLANNING STUDY
Analyze constraints, develop solutions, estimate costs and impact on capacity • Runways / Taxiways • Apron / Parking • Passenger Service • ATC • Environment BORYSPIL ACE & PLANNING STUDY
Clusters Short-term Cluster 2 Includes infrastructural and operational improvements as Cluster 1. It would bring comparatively less benefit but for the less cost. Cost / Benefit : 44 / 99 Short-term Cluster 1 Includes infrastructural improvements on the runways and taxiways, on apron, terminals and operational improvements. Cost / Benefit : 57 / 121 Short-term Cluster 3 Cluster 3 includes no infrastructural improvements, but variety of operational ones. Cost / Benefit : 22 / 72 Medium-term Cluster This cluster has no possibility to be implemented until 2012, but has a great potential to increase capacity even more than to 80 movements per hour. Cost / Benefit : 54 / 83 BORYSPIL ACE & PLANNING STUDY

Short-term Cluster 3 (procedures) • Review AIP. • Awareness campaign + leaflet. • Reduceradar separation from 5nm to 3nm. • Training of ATC on efficient procedures. • Review SIDs such that departure separation of 1 min is authorized. • “Quiet” prop SIDs. • Efficient sequencing and multiple line-up. • Use both RWYs.
