2. Museums: • Museums are not limited to just one. There are many different types. • music, history, science, wax, pop culture, sports, etc. • Remember that the ability to visit these museums depends on the location of your school • In Pennsylvania we are lucky to be surrounded by multiple cities that house different kinds of museums • Not everyone is as fortunate so sometimes you need to bring the museum to your children • Discussion Question: • Have you ever visited a museum during your years in school? If so, please describe that experience.

Portable Museums: • http://www.e-flux.com/journal/view/50 • In the text we saw that the teacher created a museum. • We thought that it would be more beneficial if the students created the museum on their own. • By creating portable museums you bring the lesson to life and cultivate a better appreciation for the process of creating art. • In our classrooms we thoughtthat giving our students a theme related to a prior lesson, such as space or a specific president, would be better than having them focus on a specific artist’s work. • Discussion Question: If you were having your students create a portable museum what topic would you have them focus on?

4. Thoughts on the Article: • The article was specifically geared towards art teachers • Museums can benefit our students if we go to a history or science museum and combine a lesson with both subjects (cross-curriculum) • If these museums are not close to your school you can have your class create their own museum • The article made us think back to the videowe watched where the CLC students created their own museums and explored their own topics

6. Activity • Each table will pick one of the topics listed below and create a work of art related to their topic • They will then write a sentence or two about their piece of artwork and combine their tables work into a portable museum • After the portable museums are completed the students will walk around the room and examine the other tables artwork List of topics: Space Human Body Aquarium Zoo Pop Culture A city of your choice Penn State Beach
