Content & Careerprospects Content • Profound insight in the nature and particularities of entrepreneurship both in terms of concepts/models and in terms of practical elaboration (Development of a full business plan) • Profound insight in the growth challenges of entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial ventures, with an emphasis on knowledge intensive entrepreneurship Career prospects • This major prepares you to start establishing your own venture. • Ample career possibilities through a broad background in economics and management : • Managerial positions in smaller and larger companies • Consultancy • Research units of large firms, financial institutions, professional federations • Public administration

Courses TEW/Master of Business Economics Major Entrepreneurship TEW / MBE Students take the following courses (24 credits): • The Foundations of Entrepreneurship (6 credits) • Entrepreneurship and New Business Development (6 credits) • Entrepreneurial Finance (3 credits) • Organising for Entrepreneurship (3 credits) • Intrapreneurship (3 credits) • Strategic IP Management (3 credits)

  4. Courses TEW/Master of Business Economics Minor Entrepreneurship TEW / MBE Consists of the same courses as the Major. Students choose courses from the (12 credits): • The Foundations of Entrepreneurship (6 credits) • Entrepreneurship and New Business Development (6 credits) • Entrepreneurial Finance (3 credits) • Organising for Entrepreneurship (3 credits) • Strategic IP Management (3 credits) • Intrapreneurship (3 credits) • Students following the Entrepreneurship Major have to choose a Minor in a different field. Recommended: Strategy and Innovation; International Business

Courses HIR Minor Entrepreneurship HIR Students take the following courses (24 credits): • The Foundations of Entrepreneurship (6 credits) • Entrepreneurship and New Business Development (6 credits) • Entrepreneurial Finance (3 credits) • Organising for Entrepreneurship (3 credits) • Intrapreneurship(3 credits) • Strategic IP Management (3 credits)

Courses – General Information Courses are taught in English: • English language skills are essential for most career perspectives • Allows international student intake (MBE major) Organization of the Courses: • Requires active participation by students: interactive and rewarding • Courses combine theory and applications: what’s the value of theory in practice? • Courses involve team projects in which theory is applied to business cases/industries • New business development: multidisciplinary teams work on business plan during two semesters • Most other courses evaluate students on a combination of team papers/presentations and an individual exam

Master’s Thesis TEW/MBE • Individually written Thesis, about 15000 words • Scientifically founded analysis of subject matter within the domain – theory & empirical work/in-depth cases • Theses can also focus on empirical analysis closely related to ongoing academic research at the department • Extensive list of topics with research questions and literature will be made available in October. • Helps students to start the thesis quickly. • Transparent and organized allocation based on ‘best match’ topic, student, and coach/supervisor • But substantial room for development of (sensible and interesting) own topics • Theses are expected/recommended to be written in English • To foster English language skills • To allow presenting the thesis to a foreign audience • To allow benefitting from the guidance by our growing staff of foreign PhD students • The MSI department will provide info sessions and general introductory sessions on academic English, academic research methods (statistical analysis, Stata), paper writing, and case study methodology
