Preliminaries • Pre-class (30 classwork pts.) • Load the online research notes on video games you completed on Tuesday. • Transform your notes into a 2-column table. Be sure to include column headers and a row for each title-website pair. • Change the orientation and column widths so that the page is visually appealing.

Objectives • In this lesson you will learn: • Form a research question into a thesis statement. • How to change background colors in rows and columns • How to add and edit borders. • How to add animation effects within cells. • How to change table orientation. • How to change widths of rows and columns. • You will know that you accomplished the objectives when you can incorporate research findings into a table and color code the findings.
Focus Lesson: Tables • Launch Word. • Retrieve the weekly dinner menu table you completed last week. • Change the table border to a wider one (Format menu then Borders and Shading). • Add shading to each cell. • Green for items which are easy to make. • Yellow for items which are more difficult. • Red for difficult items • Add blinking font for 3 items you especially like (Format menu, Font and Effects tab) • Change the table orientation to landscape and make the table take up almost the entire width of the page.
Focus Lesson: Tables (con’t.) • Load your video game violence tables. • Add a column on the far right side titled “Main Idea.” • Begin Pre-Reading each of the articles for the main idea. • Summarize it in the form of one sentence and put type it into the Main Idea column.
