Where are you at with the migration to Office 2007? • We haven’t begun to think about it • We are planning on moving sometime? • We will move by next fall • We already have made the move
Dakota State and Office 2007 • Made the complete migration over the summer of 2007 • Included all students, faculty and staff • Initially it was a big deal, however now not even thought much about
Interface Changed in All Applications • All of the applications have changed the way that the user interfaces with the application • Still remains consistent between the applications • Retained all features and added others • Challenge to find new features
Office 2007 • Works with Windows XP and Windows XP Tablet • Works on Vista • Is able to be set up to be backwardly compatible • Office 2003 can open and read Office 2007 with most current service packs installed.

Let’s Learn About New Features and Terms • The Ribbon brings the most popular commands to the forefront, so you don't have to hunt in various parts of the program for things you do all the time.
Dialog Launcher May not always be available Will depend upon what whether the action you are doing has additional options
The Office Button • Contains many items the file menu used to contain • Including file functions, printing as well as Recent Documents • Notice Word Options and Exit
Ways of Accessing Tools • Ribbons and Tabs • Contextual Tabs • Tabs that open based upon what are you are doing • Right mouse click • Basically the same as previous versions • Quick Access Toolbar • New customizable feature
Right Mouse Click • As you can see many of the same options we have seen in other versions • Sometimes maybe your best method to access
Quick Access Toolbar • You may easily add items to the Quick Access Toolbar • Select a tool and right mouse clicking on it provides an option to add it to the Quick Access Toolbar
Another Method of Adding to the Quick Toolbar • You also may use the drop down arrow on the right side of the menu • From there you add some predefined tools or use the More Commands option
Digital Ink In Word Available from the Review Tab With the Review Tab selected notice the last option on the right is Start Inking
Also Can Add to Quick Access Toolbar • Start Inking shown in the quick access toolbar • Also included is the Show Ink tool • This is what we saw in 2003 that was show/hide of digital ink
Adding Tools to Quick Access Toolbar • Accessed From More Commands of the Quick Toolbar drop down • Need to select the Tab that you want to use.
Hiding the RibbonDouble Click on a Tab The Hidden Ribbon To show the Ribbon simply click on a Tab and the ribbon is visible
Creating and Saving a File • Identifying Office files by program • Common names, such as document • Individual name, such as location.docx
Compatibility Mode • What if I have an older version of Office? • You will be able to open in Office 2007 • It will open in a mode that is called compatibility mode
More on Compatibility Mode • Elements in your document that aren't supported or will behave differently in Word 97-2003 format. • Some of these features will be permanently changed and won't be converted to Microsoft Office Word 2007
Viewing and Printing Your Work • Printer must be installed to print • Simple printing operation • Click the Print button • A more complex printing operation • Select pages • Preview the document • Print document • Zoom: see more (or less) of document
