Materials and Procedures Materials: Unifix cubes: 5 red, 5 yellow, 5 green, and 5 blue, clue card set, and model page. • Divide into groups of four. • Each student in the group reads their clue card to reconstruct the Unifix cube model. • Label the layers and the thickness of the layers.
Discussion • What are the four layers of the atmosphere? • What layer is the thinnest? • What are the three regions between the layers called?
Discussion • Which layer has the coldest temperature? • Which layer has the warmest temperature?

Compare the temperatures in each layer. • Using the clue cards, to record the temperatures in each layer of the atmosphere. • Plot one point for each layer on graph paper and make a line graph. • Notice the differences of temperatures in each layer.
