Top 10 Leading Causes of Death in the U.S. and what to do about them. 1. Heart disease 2. Cancer (malignant neoplasms) 3. Chronic lower respiratory disease 4. Accidents (unintentional injuries) 5. Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases) 6. Alzheimer's disease 7. Diabetes (diabetes mellitus) 8. Influenza and pneumonia 9. Kidney disease (nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis) 10.Suicide (intentional self-harm). Out of the 10 most deadliest killers in America, 8 of them are preventable by pursuing a healthy lifestyle. The highlighted ones are diseases mainly acquired by an inactive, unhealthy lifestyle. What is an unhealthy lifestyle? We all know the days where we’re out with our friends and family, and it’s dessert time. You might order a nice, rich cheesecake, or a chilling ice cream sundae. It’s always good to enjoy a little sugar sometimes. However, how often is this sometimes? The problem isn’t eating these foods. It’s making a habit of eating
these foods. It isn’t just what's on the dessert menu, but also in everyday snacks we consume. The average can of soda has 39 grams of sugar, sometimes more. For a normal sized human being, the recommended daily intake is about 25 grams. ONE can of soda already exceeds that. Let’s look at some other high sugar food. Candy Bars:
This is the nutrition facts for a twix bar. 14.3 grams of sugar for one of the bars. Remember you eat 2 at a time. Energy Drinks: Red bull offers roughly the same sugar content as soda. No wonder it keeps you awake. Paired with the caffeine you’re sure to keep your eyes open… until you crash. The list can go on and on, from juice to cereal. There are a lot of foods with high sugar content but low nutritional value. Now, I’m not saying to stop eating all of your sugary foods. I’m not saying they are the killer. The killer is eating this way everyday, habitually. If you have one can of soda everyday, you are already at a disadvantage. That’s not including everything else. The key word is Moderation.
What can eating too much sugar lead to? 1. You gain weight. Your body doesn’t get satisfied, causing you to eat more. Disregarding the 200+ calories you just consumed. 2. You damage your liver. Your liver stores sugar and is the only organ with a transporter for it. Sugar overload equals liver overload. Leading to liver damages. 3. Metabolic Dysfunction. Your metabolism helps break down nutrients turning it into energy. It also helps break down fat, which is another way sugar makes you gain weight. 4. Cause an addiction. Eating sugar releases dopamine in the brain as if it were a drug. This just causes you to consume more and more. 5. Sugar can cause diseases, killer diseases. Can Cause Diabetes, Stroke, Heart Diseases, differents forms of cancer, and the list can go on. How can I solve the problem? Easy, just lower the sugar intake. Sounds easier said than done, but that’s it. Also consume more nutrition packed foods and drinks. Drink Green Smoothies!
