  4. The Sun • The sun is the nearest star to our planet Earth. • It is the largest object in our solar system. • The sun is the source of most of the heat and light that fuels life on earth.

  5. Inner Solar System • Inner or terrestrial planets are those planets that are inside the asteroid belt. • Mercury • Venus • Earth • Mars

  6. Outer Solar System • Outer planets are those outside the asteroid belt: • Jupiter • Saturn • Uranus • Neptune • Pluto is now considered a dwarf planet)

  7. Dwarf Planets • Pluto • Ceres • Eris

  8. Planets inside the orbit of the earth are called superior planets: Mars Jupiter Saturn Uranus Neptune Pluto Superior Planets
