  2. LEADERSHIP Leadership • Yang Jian created the Sui Dynasty but the Sui Dynasty didn’t last long. • It only lasted from the years 589-618 which is only 29 years; This is not long at all. • During his rule he unified China and conquered many lands that helped future empires Grade: B+

  3. ACCOMPLISHMENTS • He ended the Period of Disunion which is the time of disorder that followed the fall of the Han dynasty • He also conquered parts of Southern Asia Grade: A

  4. Strength of Government • They only lasted for 29 years which isn’t a long time compared to previous dynasties • They began the Grand Canal project which was a canal linking northern and southern China • Paved the way for the next powerful dynasties for 700 years Grade: B-

  5. Overall Grade for Yang Jian: Sui Dynasty Leadership: B+ Igave Yang Jian a B+ because his empire didn’t last long, but he conquered many lands that helped China later in reunification. Accomplishments: A I gave Yang Jian a A because he came up with lots of great ideas even though his empire ended early . One of his great ideas was the Grand Canal. Strength of Government: B- I gave Yang Jian a B- for the strength of his government. I gave him that grade because his empire ended soon, compared to other empires but he paved a way for the next powerful dynast in the next 700 years. Final Grade: A-
