Civic, Social and Political Education • The course is assessed by means of: • a written terminal examination in the Junior Certificate (40%) • submission of a Report on an Action completed(60%) • The course has seven concepts: • Human Dignity • Rights and Responsibilities • Stewardship • Development • Democracy • Law • Interdependence
CSPE - Interdependence • Pupils should be aware of the interrelatedness of all human life at the individual, community, national and global levels. • The actions of an individual can have effects sometimes in places and situations they have never seen. • Absence of an understanding of interdependence leads to an isolated, powerless and self-interested view of events.
CSPE - Interdependence • The European Union is a main part of this concept. Areas covered are: • The European Parliament • The European Commission • The Council of Ministers • The History of Europe • The effects Europe has on Ireland and vice versa
Journey Through Europe A Teaching & Learning Resource includes information about Europe, active learning methodologies and Action Projects
