Preparing for Live@edu “That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane - Lenny Bruce is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn - world serves its own needs, regardless of your own needs. …. …. It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.” R.E.M.

Update on Challenges & Considerations • Email Archiving • Not easy to archive in a searchable format • We continue to look… • Conversion of existing email • Testing so far has been successful in moving server mail and local email • Contacts & Address books • Also successful in migrating to Live@edu
Update on Challenges & Considerations • Testing Continues, Results look positive: • Shared accounts (Admissions@scranton.edu, ITServices@Scranton.edu ) • Shared Calendar Resources • Events, conference room schedules, etc. • Listservs& RoyalLists • No change expected • Bboard • May possibly be a web based application
Update on Challenges & Considerations • Mobile Device Support • Support for Windows, iPhone, Droid • Blackberry (testing required) • Legacy devices (not likely) • Calendar Migration - not likely • Training • There will be documentation, on-line course materials, and in-person training
New Challenges & Considerations • IDAM System Development • Immutable ID’s and the impact on other systems • Remove PII (Personally Identifiable Information) from your email before it moves • Concurrent Email and Calendar Systems • During transition some will be on Thunderbird/Oracle Calendar and others will be on Live@edu • End Users want time to adjust and prepare for new email & calendar system
Conversion Strategy • Users prepare to move • Organize what is necessary, delete what is not. • Identify Finder Scans (Begin March 2011?) • Department by Department Approach • Early notifications and training • Email accounts & server mail will be migrated to Live@edu (Centrally managed) • End-Users will be provided time to migrate address books and remaining local email (requires end user action)
Live@edu Project Timeline • February 2011- May 2011 • Testing, Document Features, Default Settings, Address Considerations & Concerns • Campus Communications • P/IR Divisional Accounts • Account Provisioning (ties to IDAM Account & Access) • Develop Training Content and Schedules • More Campus Communications • Live@edu training kickoff
